Join Us for Backyard Horticulture
Every winter we offer a course titled “Backyard Horticulture” to the general public. The presentations are given by experienced Master Gardeners or County Extension professionals and they cover a wide variety of topics. For example: Soil & Composting, Injury Prevention, Gardening for Pollinators, Herb Gardening, Seed Starting, Annuals & Perennials, Pruning, Success with Vegetables, Native and Invasives, Sustainable Turf, and more. The classes meet for 8 weeks and each session is approximately 3 hours, with two or three separate speakers. The fee is $80.
This year (2024) there will be two in-person courses. One will be held on Thursday afternoons in the Harborview Room at the County Complex in Barnstable Village. The other will be held on Friday afternoons at the Harwich Community Center. These are completely separate classes with separate enrollments. Enrollment in both classes is limited.
Both classes are FULL for 2024. We hate to turn interested gardeners away but we are limited by room capacities.
Harwich Backyard Horticulture will meet on Fridays from February 2 through March 22 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Harwich Community Center. The fee is $80.
Barnstable Backyard Horticulture will meet on Thursdays from February 1 through March 21, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the County Complex in Barnstable Village. The fee is $80.
