Join Us for Backyard Horticulture

Every winter we offer a course titled “Backyard Horticulture” to the general public.  The presentations are given by experienced Master Gardeners or County Extension professionals and they cover a wide variety of topics. For example: Soil & Composting, Injury Prevention, Gardening for Pollinators, Herb Gardening, Seed Starting, Annuals & Perennials, Pruning, Success with Vegetables, Native and Invasives, Sustainable Turf, and more. The classes meet for 8 weeks and each session is approximately 3 hours, with three separate speakers. The fee is $80.

This year (2023) there will be two in-person courses. One will be held on Thursday afternoons at the County Complex in Barnstable Village. The other will be held on Friday afternoons (and a few Thursdays) at the Harwich Community Center. These are completely separate classes with separate enrollments. Enrollment in both classes is limited.

Both classes filled up quickly this year. We hate to turn interested gardeners away but we are limited by room capacities. Look for the 2024 registration information right after the new year next year.

Harwich Backyard Horticulture meets Fridays (and a few Thursdays) from February through March from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The fee is $80. More details to follow.
