Class Open to the Public

Every winter we offer a class titled “Backyard Horticulture” to the general public. It typically runs from the end of January through the end of March. It’s open to anyone interested in learning more about gardening. In 2021, we offered an online version. For 2022, we may offer an in-person version or an online or hybrid version. We will follow county guidelines in making our decision.

Normally, there are two completely separate versions of the class – one in Harwich and one in Barnstable – with each one meeting for 3 hours once a week for 8 weeks. Each class meeting includes three separate presentations. All the presentations are given by experienced Master Gardeners and they cover a wide variety of topics. In 2021, these included: Soil & Composting, Injury Prevention, Gardening for Pollinators, Herb Gardening, Seed Starting, Container Gardening, Pruning, Success with Vegetables, Native and Invasives, More Garden Less Lawn.

Enrollment is limited so sign up early. The cost per person is $75.

Registration will be available in January. Watch here for details.
