June Through August
The Lower Cape Children’s Garden, located in Brewster, offers children the opportunity to work one-on-one with a Master Gardener mentor to grow their own raised bed for the season. The children and mentors gather in the garden one afternoon a week from 3:30pm – 5:00pm. Each session begins with a group lesson on various gardening topics from soil composition to bees to making scarecrows. Then the children are given time to work on their raised beds with their mentor. The program begins in May each year with the children preparing and planning their raised beds and ends in August when the garden is cleared and prepared for winter before the children go back to school. Seeds and plants are made available throughout the season as planting time for various crops comes around.
Applications are due into the office no later than March 10th.
Space is limited. Participants will be selected through a lottery and notified by email if chosen.
