May Through August
The Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod operates a seasonal Children's Garden at the Brewster Community Garden. This free program offers children ages 8-12 a hands-on opportunity to learn about gardening with guidance and coaching from Master Gardeners. The Children’s Garden program will run weekly May through August from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The program will be split into two groups, one group coming to the garden each week on Tuesdays and the other group on Thursdays.
The Lower Cape Children’s Garden offers children the opportunity to work one-on-one with a Master Gardener mentor to grow their own raised bed garden for the season. The children and mentors gather in the garden one afternoon a week from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Each session includes a group lesson on various gardening topics followed by time in the garden with their mentor applying what was learned, tending to the garden, and harvesting crops to take home. The program begins in May with the children preparing and planning their raised beds. Seeds and plants are made available throughout the season as planting time varies. The program ends in late August.
Applications are due into the office no later than March 17th.
Space is limited. Participants will be selected in the order applications are received.
