The Master Gardener Association of Cape Cod operates a seasonal Children's Garden at the Brewster Community Garden. This free program offers children ages 8-12 the opportunity to grow their own raised bed garden for the season with the one-on-one assistance of a Master Gardener mentor.
Children and mentors gather in the garden one afternoon a week from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. The program is offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, with one group coming to the garden each week on Tuesdays and the other group on Thursdays.
Weekly sessions include a group lesson on a variety of gardening topics, followed by time in the garden with a mentor applying what was learned, tending to the garden, and harvesting crops to take home. Our program begins in May with the children preparing and planning their raised beds. Seeds and plants are made available throughout the season as planting time varies. The Children's Garden wraps up in late August.
Applications are due into the office no later than March 17th.
Space is limited. Participants will be selected in the order applications are received.
